The two ribbons unify the bridges while articulating the various functions.
The project required the realization of two bicycle bridges near the historical village Zennegat across a canal and a river.
The area along the river and canal is primarily a recreational zone.
Two ribbons unify the bridges in one single gesture while articulating its functions.
The first ribbon is a wooden structure that begins as a deck over the river, twists to form a roof and an information-stand and ends as a platform in the canal.

The second ribbon consists is an elegant shaped steel structure, holding the wooden deck over the river, twisting into steel benches on the landside and translating into the bridge-deck over the canal.
Cycling on the wooden deck over the river, the shiny steel strip seems to emerge from the ground on one side, fly over the bridge deck while holding it with steel cables, twist in the air and dive into the ground on the opposite riverside.

The simple concept allows for not only a visually appealing structure but also spectacular views into its surround.
