The design clearly exhibits the architect's skill with material exploration.
Located in the heart of Budapest, the New York Palace is unquestionably one of the most famous buildings in the city. The project involved the enlargement of the four-storey historic structure, which is literally "flanked" by a new seven-floor building, in order to house a five-star hotel.

The focus of the brief was the interior design of the meeting and convention areas, which are located in both the historic building and the new wing, for a total extension of approximately 1900 square metres. Specifically, the work involved six meeting rooms, a large 500-seat auditorium, the VIP lounge and hotel breakfast room, the business area, and all spaces connected to these areas.

The design essentially turned to the sophisticated and clever use of high-performance but warm materials such as wood, ceramic tiling and leather. These materials are deftly employed in the design to add an innovative touch to the highly elite character of these rooms.

Subtle finishes cover the ceilings with polished wood being used extensively for the walls. Special lights were installed to further compliment the ambiance created by the selective material palette.

The design brings together a variety of materials and finishes to add an extra dash of inventiveness to the design.
The project is still under execution with a new building and a shopping centre being realised in the next stage.
