The Building

The New Boscolo Building represents an important architectural project for the city of Budapest, comprising of 150 new apartments allocated on 7 floors, 4500 square meters of commercial space, a congress hall for 500 persons and many new hotel suites. In response, the architects explore innovative design and detailing to further add value to the project.

The architect breaks the external facade into different elements and layers to pronounce the variations in the functions housed within the building.

On the exterior, the residential section is visually defined by an inventive use of glass and metallic brises-soleil, which are set into motion by a system of pushed and pulled facade.

The facade of the hotel suites follows a different logic in response to the narrow street it flanks. Here the design is characterized by a metallic shell set into a rhythm of vertical waves allowing sidelong views. The shell, combined with wooden extrusions and the glass window of the congress hall, connotes this section of the building, exalting its perspective.
