The Project

The brief required the creation of a workspace for one of the country's top 3 motion design studios. The process was driven by the client's demand that the space reflect the spirit of the studio it housed.

The client's fascination with Buckminster Fuller emerged as the primary generator of the design leading the architect to create a series of geodesic partition walls segregating the 4200 square feet penthouse loft space into various functional units.

The interiors of the partition walls are left exposed allowing the users to personalize their surfaces

A modular system of exposed framing and custom aluminum hubs was developed to construct the faceted 'dome' walls. Walnut panels sheath the 'public' face of the walls, while the interiors are left exposed, allowing the users to personalize it with graphics, toys and games.

The walls form a subtle yet strong backdrop and support the constant stream of images and ideas generated within them.
