Restore landscape

An integral design for the 1.7 km Boulevard of Katwijk maintaining the characteristics of the family sea resort. The main starting point was to restore the landscape by reintegrating any cuts into the shore line. The new picture is that of a wavy dune landscape. The dune landscape continues until on the Boulevard itself in an undulating line between dune and promenade, emphasized by a wide, curved rim.

A-symmetrical profile design

The new plan has to give a solution for the 30 km zone and touristic crowds in the summer. The solution: an a-symmetrical road profile design, a free cycling track to the sea side and one on the road to the side of the buildings.
