"The bar is characterised by a long bar counter made of Corian, which literally breaks the physical limitations of the interior, while becoming an illuminated display lantern on the street side, and an outdoor smoking corner when stepping out into the courtyard." says Waltritsch A+U on bar Qubik.

Words from the architect

Qubik is a small cafe with double entrances - from the main street and from the internal courtyard. The bar is characterised by a long bar counter made of Corian, which literally breaks the physical limitations of the interior, while becoming an illuminated display lantern on the street side, and an outdoor smoking corner when stepping out into the courtyard.

Interior walls are cladded with coloured glass panels in order to stimulate a deeper perception of the space on the other axis. Moreover, as the dominant element of the composition, the counter acts as an invitation to enter the bar as well as to the courtyards and to the centre self, partially compensating the local building regulations, which did not allow contemporary expression on the historical facade.
