A past testimony

'The intervention, impelled by strong client love to places of infancy and of adolescence, aims at recovering the use of building and sets out to preserve both the architectonic identity and the relation with the surrounding space.' Says Gaetano Gianclaudio Caponio + Partner, on the design of A past testimony.

Words from the architect

The intervention, impelled by strong client love to places of infancy and of adolescence, aims at recovering the use of building and sets out to preserve both the architectonic identity and the relation with the surrounding space.

The building is a typical farm of Puglia and is composed of "lamioni" that are rooms with a barrel vaulted roof and with double-pitch argil covering.

These "lamioni", that testify a past constructor technique, were utilized both as a cowshed and as a country residence but subsequently these spaces were fled.

To-day this building has been restored and are utilized by clients as a country residence to keep the bond with these placed. Tufa, stone, red tiles and fire-place as well as interior fitting are elements that have been turned by a minimum intervention.

Looking up.

Bath-room and kitchen, as new spaces, have been builded and the tufa has been used as building material. Old doors and old wood fixtures have been recovered and painted with blue colour, a evident Mediterranean mark.
