At Turner + Associates Architects we see the process of design as being one that invites innovation underpinned by a pragmatic awareness offering the opportunity to expand upon, as well as respond to, the brief and context. A project's context always includes the social, cultural, economic and environmental as well as the physical. We are adept at rapidly analysing a range of possibilities for a site, be it either local to our office in Sydney or in a location far remote.
TYPOLOGY_Our current projects include masterplanning, workplace, urban housing, aged care, showroom, industrial, hospitality, houses and, increasingly, hybrid combinations of these typologies. Buildings designed by Turner + Associates Architects can be found not only in Sydney and New South Wales, but across most states and territories as well as internationally in countries such as Lebanon, China, India and Vietnam.
FORM_Our work exhibits a bold and animated use of form and material. There are many themes and interests that recur at varying scales between projects tying them together without descending into a signature look. Many ideas and compositions are not immediately evident and as such our buildings invite a second glance.
TEAM_The team of 35 comprises many who have been with the practice since its inception in 2001 and has expanded to include those with expertise in graphics and interiors. Our staff hail from a range of countries and backgrounds giving the practice a strong and varied knowledge base. The studio environment allows regular internal peer reviews at key stages of all projects and engenders a process that is as inclusive as it is enjoyable.
SEED>S_Turner + Associates Architects have developed a guiding framework known as seed>S (social, economic, environmental design towards Sustainability). This framework and its policy guides practice office and operational procedures, underpins an agenda for research, assists development of a practice knowledge base, sets a framework for design reviews and is finally implemented within the project structure.
