'The intervention is modelled on the landscape via the "four-dimensionality" of the perspective foreshortening and the breaking down of the corner... ' Says Matrixassociati, on the design of Services Centre. More
The Matrixassociati studio was set up in 2003 by Sebastiano Quercio and Angela De Fazio. They both have doctorates in architectural design and composition.
Among the most important projects carried out: the re-development of the area surrounding the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary in Siracusa; the display gallery linking the Opere Pastorali with the churchyard of the Sanctuary; and the Services Centre building in Floridia, for which it won the "International Architecture and Urban Culture Award" in 2006.
These have taken part in national and international competitions: "Two pedestrian bridges over the Tiber" and "The expansion of the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome - the former Peroni area". In both competitions these designs were successful.
Sebastiano Quercio has published several articles including "Meridian Crossings" in the digital architecture magazine Architecture Space www.spazioarchitettura.net; "Awaiting a new Terragni" www.archimagazine.com/aultime.htm; "Collective residence, a type to be redefined" in the digital architecture magazine Press/Tletter no. 9, 2005 edited by Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi; "Three levels of atopia" in Architettura Arte Museo, Gangemi Editore, Roma, 2004, edited by Alberto Cuomo; "Art and Architecture in a Contemporary Experience" in Architettura Arte Museo, Gangemi Editore, Roma 2004, edited by Alberto Cuomo; "Collective Residence, a type to be redefined" in One-family and Collective Residence edited by C.
