Ana Henton and Gregory Williams
Ana Henton received her M.A. in Architecture from Princeton University in 1996, after which she relocated to New York, where she worked for a number of firms, including Steven Holl. She was one of the founders of Freecell, an award-winning design collective that focused on high concept design/build work. In 1998, Henton moved to L.A. and worked at Frank Gehry Partners for 5 years on a number of significant projects including the new Corcoran College and Museum of Art in Washington D.C. Ana launched her own practice in 2003 concentrating on small but design oriented projects.
Gregory Williams graduated from the UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Architecture in June 1982. Greg then went on to receive his architectural license in the state of California in 1992 and established the architectural practice of Arris & Associates, after ten years of working in the profession. During this time Greg went back to schools and earned a M.A. in Architecture from the UCLA in 2000. Arris & Associates provided architectural services for numerous residential and commercial projects within the Greater Los Angeles area. In 2002 Greg formed the design/building construction company of Arristone with partner Michael Kyle which allowed Greg take on the responsibility of contractor on some of the projects designed by Arris & Associates.
Mass Architecture & Design is a concept-driven firm specializing in residential and commercial design.
From the Breadbar in Century City mall to the 5000 square foot sustainable residence in the redwood forest of Sonoma, each design extensively explores and experiments with the formal and structural units within it.
The firm was named as one among six emerging architecture firms in Los Angeles in 2006 by the American Institute of Architects.
