"The transformation of the Winter Residence began as a simple request for a bathroom remodel. The owner Jerry Winter and his soon-to-be wife, Desi Rosenfield, were interested in creating bathrooms that matched the minimal and contemplative feel of the modern spas and boutique hotels they had visited in their travels." says Ibarra Rosano Design Architects on Winter Residence. "The site of the Garcia Residence is a steep north facing rocky slope in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains." says Ibarra Rosano Design Architects on Garcia Residence. More
"Our design approach is to search for the inevitable solution, reducing elements to their essence without being preoccupied with being minimal." Says Ibarra Rosano Design Architects, through their design for the Downing Residence. More
In 1999, Luis Ibarra and Teresa Rosano founded Ibarra Rosano Design Architects. As native Tucsonans and graduates of the University of Arizona College of Architecture, they are dedicated to designing consciously for the desert. Over the last eight years, their firm has been producing award-winning designs and has earned numerous accolades.
They were selected by Architecture Magazine as one of nine firms to represent their state in its issue on "the Arizona School". In addition, they won the Southern Arizona AIA Home of the Year for three consecutive years, and were honored to accept an invitation from the Eames foundation in Los Angeles to speak about their work and the internationally renowned Case Study Houses. The National Concrete and Masonry Association recognized the firm by presenting its Award of Excellence for the Garcia Residence in 2005 and the Downing Residence in 2006. An installation commissioned by the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art for the exhibition "The Border Film Project / El Proyecto Fronterizo Fotografico" September 16, 2006 - January 28, 2007 was designed by Ibarra Rosano Design Architects, and they were recently awarded the Benjamin Moore HUE Award for Residential Exteriors.
Ibarra Rosano Design Architects aspires to create work that lasts, not just by the quality of construction, but also by the timeless beauty of design. They believe that architecture is space. This is the basic premise of their work, and they are committed to the belief in the power of space to nurture and inspire.
