"The canopy belongs to a private courtyard next to the central square of the town, and replaces an old structure; the public function of the place, and the client's will to renew were important inputs for the project." says Alessandro Calvi Rollino Architetto on The White Kite. More
"The requirement for the project was to build a 6-classroom kindergarten, to be completed in two phases, giving prominence to the existing natural landscape, to the environmental impact, to sustainable building solutions and to pedagogical issues." says Alessandro Calvi Rollino Architetto on The Rainbow School. "The analytical study of the link between actions and time, led to the possibility of creating a wide continuous open space which is virtually divided in two poles: the first one dedicated to quick services and customers." says Alessandro Calvi Rollino Architetto on Coffee Bar: S=f(t) More
Alessandro Calvi Rollino (1971)
Graduated with Honor from MILAN POLYTECHNIC ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL,
Alessandro Calvi Rollino has taught at the same University as an Assistant Professor from 1997 to 2003, giving lectures on subjects related to Perception, Design, Model, Real and Virtual Space.
Research and design try to investigate the making of architectural spaces beginning from diagrams. Topological models, paper models and 3D virtual models, materialize and transform an architectural space based on functional programs, movements of people, traffic flows, topological relations and perceptual issues. The body-subject, throughout motion and perception, is the creator and modifier of a self oriented space, a kind of primary space made of points, lines, surfaces and volumes, where events through time may happen. Body and Architecture are the outmost poles of a research, investigating programs, actions, transit situations, thresholds between inside/outside, indoor/outdoor, above/below, front/rear etc.etc. and the related involvement among body, perception and environment. As a consequence, there are no restrictions about the scale of a project: objects, houses, or cities, they are all directly related to our perceiving bodies, that can be considered as the Degree Zero of Architecture.
